About Us...

This is the coursework of Loren, Latasha, and Chandni. The pages are set up to show development process through research to promotion and then onto our final piece. We have put our names by each post. We were asked to create a 2 minute opening of a film. Here you see the process of which we plan, develop, film and edit our opening. We have used the blog format to present our evaluation and have used technologies such as youtube to present our videos. We have also used the website wix, in order to create a promotional website. this is to show our understanding of a wide range of technologies to help present this coursework.

Loren Rich - Director and Writer

We had a lesson to come up with 3 ideas, and then to choose one main idea we liked and develop a 25 word synopsis. My idea was stemming back from a music video i saw about 3 men, one of which had two following him, doing everything he did. I like the fact that someone was doing the same thing and i knew i could create a good comedy. I pitched my idea which received good reception and so i began to develop my idea, not knowing to the full extent what i was getting into. I had no casting for sure, and by this time both groups had already started to plan their shoot. I had thought about using people, but at that time it wouldn't work. I had to make another idea, and so i did. I had the idea about a year ago, where a girl was being haunted by masks, i had tried to write a story about it previously but i never seem to finish them. Remembering it, i wanted to develop it, and after a few weeks we had this idea that was great and we could picture it perfectly. That's why the overall shooting took only a day, because i had overly planed it in my head a thousand time, and with its obstacles we managed to pull through with a quick shoot. As I am the director i took the role of giving people the orders, telling the cast how to act how to position themselves, everything. I even had a go at being in it my self as we lacked another masked man character. Latasha and Chandni did most of the camera work, and helped out with shots, and even filmed other footage for our behind the scenes work.

Latasha Lewis - Camera and co-producer

The difficulties we had filming was to do with lighting, weather and framing, as well as people in the shot who were at the scene. We were unable to control anything, but were able to position the camera away from the strong sunlight, but at moments it was too much, and this shows in the final edit as lighting changes. The solution was to reduce saturation on imovie. This allowed the light to then gain a ghostly vibe, and by reducing colour it gave this dull texture that worked well with the story and the types of shots we used. The children and parents who were at the park were sometimes in the shots, and so we had to frame it just right in order to avoid shadows and sound. At a few points we did explain to people why we were here and what we wanted to achieve, but this didnt help the problems we faced. I leanrt in order to have a good filming day, planning was key.

Chandni Grover- producer and co-editor

As a producer the job is to control everyting in the process of the production of the movie, and so i have tried to do so, through out the proccess of the production, things have run quite smoothly at most times, although we had some problems at first with script as we had to change it due to some problems but  we managed to pull it back together on time. Otherwise management of other aspects in this project were in control as we had good planing schedule for the whole project that all of us followed  and even in the editing procces we managed to get the look we wanted to get through to the audence via editing as it helped bring together the film. For example as it is a psychological thriller/horror we wanted some darkness and spookiness in the movie. The editing helped us create that since we could not get that through the main shooting as we filmed on a sunny day. The personal release form were completed, the location release letter was writen by myself but unfortunately didn't recieve a reply. there has been a misunderstanding in opening itself as my role has been misplace by my co-worker Latasha lewis.
